Callie Logan hasn’t been able to stop smiling since meeting bookseller Sam Nightingale, and she’s thrilled to be spending her first Christmas with his family. For the Nightingales, Christmas Eve is a time for sitting around the fire at Campion House, eating mince pies, drinking mulled wine and reading ghost stories.

As the winter night draws in and the snow begins to fall, the family remembers the Christmas when Sam read from a book over a hundred years old and how strange things started to happen afterwards. Can a book really be haunted? And why is Callie now anxious about the Christmas present she’s bought for Sam?

Christmas with the Book Lovers is a sparkly, spooky novella about family, friendship and love from the bestselling author of The Rose Girls and A Weekend with Mr Darcy.

Completely unexpected, and I read it on one sitting in around 45 mins. Couldn't tear myself away from this book.

Being a rather short novella there isn't much I dare say about the plot, other than although the book is set at Christmas Eve, take note of the incredibly clever Halloween publication date.

This book is Callie's first Christmas with Sam and his book loving family the Nightingales. This is in a way a nice follow up to book 1 of the Book Lovers series, but can easily be read as a standalone without any prior knowledge.

There is just enough creepy and weird happenings in this book to make me feel that I may not sleep well tonight. The second I opened the book though I was right at home with Victoria Connelly's always wonderful writing, and although its a novella, you definitely feel as though you have had more than just a showcase for the author's writing.

This we definitely a rounded story, that would be a must read for lovers of all books at any time of year and not just at Christmas. It has reminded me how much I love this series and that I really need to read the third full length book in the series.

Any book that has held my attention so well when I've been really pushed for concentration and time recently deserves a round of applause from me.

Thank you to Victoria Connell for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
